Griksu sekä Anu ja Jirko kävivät vierailulla luonamme Asolassa. Poika on kehittynyt hienosti. Häntä on pitkä ja leuka vahvahko, silmät vihertävät kauniisti, korvat ovat suuret ja vartalo pitkä ja linjakas. Vaikka kulma on vielä kehittymässä ja posket puuttuvat, luulenpa että hänestä vielä komia kolli kehittyy vai mitä mieltä olet? Katsopa kuvia komistuksesta Grixun omasta galleriasta.
Sitten ikävämpiä uutisia...Ellun sulho Late äityi huutelemaan ja pissailemaan perheen muutettua uuteen taloon, ja Laten isäntä teki oikeutetun päätöksen kastroida pojan. Me ymmärrämme päätöksen sillä kuka nyt voisi ikuisesti odotella 'tauolla' olevaa naarasta. Nyt toivotaan taas ettei Ellu ihan heti juokse, jotta hän ja perhe voivat odotella hetken Grixun kypsymistä siitosmarkkinoille. Kissalaamme on siis odotettavissa vuoden loppuun mennessä kahdet pennut yhdistelmistä Grixu ja Ellu sekä Grixu ja Fanni. Mikäli olet kiinnostunut näistä pennuista, ota yhteyttä.
Griksu visited us with Anu and Jirko. He's developed nicely. He's got a long tail and big ears. His eyes are getting green and his chin is strong. Although the angle's is not well developed yet and he's lacking his male cheeks, I think he'll be a wonderful male when he grows up - or what do you think? Check out the new pics in his gallery.
Some sad news also...Ellu's fiance began to spray and acting nervous in the family's new household and he'll be sterilized this week. I understand the decision perfectly although I wished the combination to finally succeed despite of Ellu's lack of heats. Now we we wish that Ellu does not start her heats soon, as her next planned fiance will be Grixu, who's now 6.5 months old. In addition to the planned litter with Ellu and Grixu, we'll be expecting another litter from Grixu with Fanni. If you're interested, please contact me.

Sukulaiskissoilla poikapentuja! Laiffin pentu Baby Jane (Laiffi II) on saanut kaksi poikapentua Laiffkiss-kissalassa. Susanssin-kissalaan on syntynyt 3 poikapentua, joiden äiti Your Sunshine on Wolgan pennun Conanin jälkeläisiä. Osa pennuista on vielä varaamatta. Jos kiinnostuit, otahan ihmeessä yhteyttä Irinaan tai Susannaan. Meidän kissalaamme syntyi kesäkuun alussa myös uusi tulokas, pieni ihmispoika, joka pitää vanhempansa ja veljensä hyvinkin kiireisinä lähitulevaisuudessa :)
Male kittens born to relatives of Starstruck's' cats! Baby Jane got two male kittens in the Laiffkiss cattery and Susanssin Your Sunshine got 3 males. If you're interested, please contact the breeders. Additionally, our cattery's got a newcomer in the beginning of June: a baby boy who's keeping his parents and elder brother on their toes in the near future.

Griksu pääsi viikonloppuna ensimmäisen kerran mökille ulkoilemaan. Anun mukaan äänenkäyttöä opeteltiin paitsi autossa myös sisällä kun haluttiin päästä ulos :) Jirkon pyydystämä hauki maittoi pojalle paremmin kuin mikään ruoka aiemmin - ei ihme, sillä ei ole tuoreen kalan voittanutta. Me kalastustaidottomat saamme tyytyä kaupan 1 viikon vanhaan loheen. Kyllä Griksun kelpaa!

Griksu spent time on a summer cabin last weekend. According to Anu, he found his voice during the car drive and during his stay in the cabin, used his newly found voice to demand Anu and Jirko to take him outdoors which he seemed to love! Jirko caught a pike part of which was cooked for Griksu. Griksu fancied it more than anything he has eaten before. Who wouldn't like some fresh fish instead of those poor week old salmons sold in our markets. I envy you Griksu!

Kuten etusivun kuvasta varmastikin huomasit, kissatarhamme on vihdoin taas kissojemme käytössä. Kissatarhammehan purettiin viime kesällä salaojaremontin takia ja talven se makasi takapihallamme lumen peitossa. Nyt Tommi pystytti tarhan uudelleen hieman eri kohtaan kuin ennen ja syvyydestäkin jouduttiin tinkimään. Tänään pitäisi pihallemme tulla kasetillinen Metsäpirtin nurmikkomultaa, jota on tarkoitus käyttää myös tarhan etuosan nurmikointiin. Kissoistamme Inga ja Boa ovat tarhassa aamusta iltaan, Laiffi suuren osan aikaa ja Wolga iltasella. Nelikko nauttii olostaan niin suuresti, että tuntia ennen nukkumaanmenoa pitää laittaa ikkuna kiinni, jotta routa ajaa porsaat kotiin kun ikkuna avataan uudelleen ennen nukkumaanmenoa. Muuten nuo olisivat siellä vaikka koko yön!
As you must have noticed from the front page picture, out catrun is finally in use again. It was dissembled last summer due to our yard reconstruction (still continues) and it laid on the yard covered by snow the entire winter. Tommi rebuilt the catrun last Friday, however, we made it a little smaller in every way. Today we'll be get an enormous load of mold that going to cover the front of the catrun too. Of our cats, Inga and Boa could stay in the catrun the entire day, Laiffi most of the day and Wolga is happy to spend there some time during the sunny evenings. The cats really seem to enjoy the catrun - an hour before the bedtime, we must close the window with some of the cats still outside so that they're happy to come back in during the bedtime. Otherwise, only catmint will get them inside!

Grixulta terkkuja! Sijoitusperheen mukaan "Griksu on unohtanut kaikki säännöt mitä tuntui jo yhdessä vaiheessa oppineen, eli vesipullo on taas kovassa käytössä :) Yöt onneksi jo nukkuu pääsääntöisesti paitsi yrittää vuorotellen vallata kummankin tyynyn ja paikan. Ja Anun hiuksilla on kivaa leikkiä yöllä." Etusivulla uusi kuva pikkulaiheliinista!
Grixun kasvattaja Kaija Merta laittoi minulle kuvia Grixun sukulaisista: Katija-isoäidistä ja Amalija-äidistä sekä siskopuolista Severinasta ja Odelijasta. Kaijan mukaan Grixu on kuin äitinsä samanikäisenä. Alla olevista kuvista näette kuinka komeaksi pikkuinen Grixu onkaan kasvamassa:

Greetings from Grixu! According to his leasing parents Jirko and Anu "Grixu has forgotten all the rules he seemed to acknowledge some time ago, so the water bottle has been in frequent use again. Luckily, he sleeps through the nights trying to take one of our's pillow - and playing with Anu's hair is a great fun in the night." There's a new picture of Grixu on the front page.
Grixu's breeder Kaija Merta sent me pics of Grixu's relatives: the grandma Katinka, mother Amalija and half sisters Severina and Odelija. In Kaija's opinion, Grixu is a spitting image of Amalija in the same age. In the pics above, you see how handsome our little Grixu is developing in the future.

Grigorij eli Grixu on kotiutunut loistavasti Jirkon ja Anun luokse. Kävin kasvattajakollegani Susannan kanssa katsomassa poikaa tiistaina viettäessäni pääsiäislomaa Kotkassa. Galleriassa pari kuvaa pojasta.
Ellukin päätti sitten juosta tällä viikolla. Puhuttuani sijoitusperheen ja Laten omistajan kanssa päädyimme odottelemaan seuraavaa kiimaa ja astuttamaan neitokaisen siitä. Tästä juoksusta pentujen syntymäajankohta olisi ollut epäsuotuisa sekä Ekmaneille että minulle. Ellun täti Baby Jane käväisi Limingalla Bristolin luona ja pentuja pitäisi touhun perusteella ainakin olla tulossa. Pennut syntyvät kesäkuun puolivälissä, jos hyvin käy. Grigorij a.k.a Grixu is feeling at home at Jirko and Anu. I visited the boy with a breeder colleague Susanna while I was spending my Easter vacation in Kotka. Gallery has new pics of the boy.
Ellu has had heat this week. After talking with the leasing family Ekmans and Late's owner, we decided to wait for Ellu's next heat to put the couple together. Ellu's aunt Baby Jane visited Bristol in the north of Finland and we should be expecting kittens in the middle of June.

Kissalamme sai uuden asukkaan viikonloppuna, kun lensin Suomeen mukanani Koroleva Grigorij Blue Prince. Lentokentällä minua vastassa olivat Jirko ja Anu, joiden luokse Kotkaan poika muutti saman tien :) Grigorij on ensi näkemältä leikkisä pikku skandinaavi, jolla on lupaava rysslookki ja hieno sukutaulu. Toivomme, että Grigorij saa Suomessa komeita skandinaavisvaikutteisia jälkeläisiä, joista ensimmäiset Fannin kanssa loppusyksystä. Kiitos Kaija tästä komeasta nuorukaisesta ja terveisiä kotiin jääneelle Grisha-veljelle ja Amalija-äidille, sekä isoäiti-Katjalle ja Severina- ja Odelija-tädeille. Kauniita naisia kaikki!

Our cattery has a newcomer! On Friday I flew to Finland with a handsome little man called S* Koroleva Grigorij Blue Prince. He's going to live with Jirko and Anu, and they picked us from the airport to take the little boy straight to his new home in Kotka. Grigorij is a very promising russian blue with a nice rysslook and a fine pedigree. We wish that Grigorij will have plenty of Scandinavian looking offspring here in Finland, first of them with Fanni in the late fall. Thank you Kaija for this wonderful baby boy and greetings to Grigorij's brother Grisha and mother Amalija, grandmother Katja and aunts Severina and Odelija. What a bunch of beautiful russian blues!
Congrats to Laiffi II who was in Turku on Saturday EX1 CAC and her daughter Darja who behaved nicely (although we expected worse) and got EX3. Laiffi will not attend more shows in the near future as she will be mated with CZ* Nerthiana Bristol from her next heat. I hope all goes well!

Paljon onnea Premioriksi valmistuneelle Starstruck's Fortunatalle (Armi)! Armi oli Seinäjoella 7.3. EX1 CAP PR NOM, joten kannatti lähteä kauemmas sertin hakuun! Omistajat nappasivat valmistumisen kunniaksi kuvan kaunokaisesta, sen löydät kasvattigalleriasta.
Me täällä kissalassa odottelemme edelleen Ellun juoksua, jotta hän pääsisi Late-sulhon luokse vierailulle. Tammikuun tiheän juoksukauden jälkeen neiti päätti pitää taukoa, jonka päättymistä me siis nyt täällä varromme.
Congrats to Starstruck's Fortunata, who became EX1 CAP PR NOM in Seinäjoki on 7.3. Well done Armi - and owners who decided to take the girl to this long trip. To honour her title, the owners took a picture of the beauty which is available on the Starstruck's cats' gallery.
We at the cattery are still waiting for Ellu to have a heat to mate her but she's decided to have a break...The fiance Lancelot 'Late' is more than ready to meet her but she must know what we're planning for her and remains silent...I guess the silence cannot last forever :)

Happy birthday our dear Inga-Linga! The supernatured little girl of our cat herd will be one year old today on 5. February. To honour our littlest baby cat, I want to share a few words with you all. Inga, you are now indeed a part of our cat community - you play with great grandfather Boa by running after him up- and downstairs the house and wrestling with him on the floor, Laiffi takes no notice of you and shares a plate of shrimps with you and your great grandma Wolga allows you to sleep upstairs with use in the night time. Inga, you amaze us with your appetite. You can eat everything from Eliel's leftovers, rye bread, Fitness cereal all the way to ham - all goes! All has to be eaten at least once to see if it's worth tasting again in the future. Inga, you're the queen of lap cats! Whenever you notice an empty lap, you're sure to attend it. Inga, you're a purrfect pet! Thank you Victoria and cat mommy Lisa for this wonderful present!

Kulta-Boamme kävi eilen SUROKissa nappaamassa elämänsä viimeisen sertin valmistuen näin Grand International Premioriksi! Vuoden tauon pelottama kissaemo Katja oli huolissaan Boan näyttelytuulesta mutta herra käyttäytyi kuin unelma: minun ollessa häkin vieressä hän kehräsi ja pyöri häkin lattialla selällään silminnähden onneissaan antamastani huomiosta. Sama tuttavallinen käytös jatkui yksilöarvostelussa tuomari Luigi Comorion edessä. Hän antoi eläkkeelle vetäytyvälle Boalle erittäin hyvät arvostelut vaikka sitten valitsikin tuomarin parhaiden valintaan toisen kastraattiuroksen. SUROKin näyttely oli todella mieluisa kokemus avarine tiloineen (unohdettakoon aamun ahdas ell-tarkastusjono) ja hyvine palveluineen ja kissatarvikkeineen. Tähän on hyvä päättää Boan näyttelyura. Samalla se merkitsee myös kissalamme näyttelyissä käyntien harventumista tänä vuonna, jollemme sitten käy tervehtimässä kasvattejamme PK-seudun näyttelyissä.
Our golden boy Boa paid a successful visit to SUROK cat show this Saturday and earned his last certicicate entitling him to the Grand International Premior title! Well done Boa! I was a bit suspicious of Boa's show behaviour after a year's break but the golden boy proved me wrong: when I was beside his cage he purred aloud and laid on his back in the cage looking for some tender care. The same behaviour went on in front of Luigi Comorio who gave Boa excellent review (although another castrate male was chosen for the nominations). The SUROK show was a really nice experience with wonderful exhibition areas and good service for lunch and coffee and all cat-related stuff. A really nice ending to Boa's show career. Our cattery will be seen rarely in the shows during the spring and summer as we only have pensioners at home and the leasing cats are planned to have kittens soon. So we wish all the best for our past competitors and hope to see them nominated for BIS cats in honour of the Russian Blue breed.
